John Tabin has an idea of what flag should be raised over a liberated Iraq from an Iraqi novelist. Personally, I like it.

I think Iraq should revert back to the first flag of the Iraqi republic (before the Ba’ath Party) which followed the demise of the autocratic hashemite royal family. It is a vertical tricolore of black (hoist), white & green with a central ‘sun’ device as a yellow disk with eight stylised triangular crimson rays around it. It was in use from 1959 – 1963.
A picture of this flag can be seen at: http://www.crwflags.com/fotw/flags/iq_1959.html
The flag prior to this is associated with the former royal dynasty (1924-1958) and I think this would be inappropriate.
