al-Jazeera now reporting that the Defense Secretary of Iraq will speak shortly after.
UPDATE: The Iraqi minister is on at the same time as Rumsfeld.
Rumsfeld is confirming that the government of Iraq is beginning to fall part. He has also confirmed the capture of the port city of Umm Qasar.
The Pentagon has confirmed that three Iraqi tugs have been intercepted and found to be carrying mines. Naval forces are on high alert for mining of Iraqi waters.
