But Did He Do It With A Straight Face?

Yassir Arafat is once again calling on Palestinians to cease-fire while his support of terror continued unabated. Arafat is trying to take center stage from Prime Minister Mohmoud Abbas, and get his face on the news rather than his. At the same time, his militant Fatah wing are continuing to plan attacks against Israelis.

Fortunately, the White House isn’t taking the bait:

"Nothing has changed in respect to Arafat," said State Department spokesman Phil Reeker.

Reeker and a White House spokeswoman, Claire Buchan both said Arafat is "part of the problem, not part of the solution."

Indeed what progress that has been made between Israel and the Palestinians have been made in spite of Arafat and no because of him. The more isolated Arafat is from the peace process, the better than chances of the process moving forward. Arafat does not want peace, he wants genocide. So long as he is anywhere near power, he will do whatever he can to see that the peace process fails.
